Erectile Dysfunction: Don't Ignore Because it can Ruin Your Life
You had probably never thought that this could happen to you too, at least probably not so early, but now you are noticing that even you are also trapped in its vicious tentacles. Erectile dysfunction or ED-the inability to have or maintain an erection long enough to enjoy a satisfactory sexual intercourse, is afflicting nearly 30 million men in America alone and is a cause of great worry for them.
If you happen to notice a similar condition in yourself as well, you should not ignore this harmless looking physical condition, because, if you suffer from erectile dysfunction or ED, it can very well mean a signal for your deteriorating health, especially cardiovascular disease. Erectile Dysfunction is basically a man's barometer for his sexual health. If he is inflicted with erectile dysfunction it simply means that his blood vessels are not functioning properly, because the penis can't get an erection until there is a proper flow of blood into it. In men over the age of 60, the leading cause is atherosclerosis, or narrowing of the arteries, which can restrict the flow of blood to the penis. Injury or disease of the connective tissue, such as peyronie's disease, may prevent the corpora cavernosa from completely expanding.
Erectile dysfunction can also precede heart ailments such as angina. A satisfactory sexual response depends on adequate flow of blood into the male organ. And with hardening of the arteries, diminished blood flow isn't going to help sexual response.
To conclude, the origin of erectile dysfunction has more of physiological reasons behind it than just psychological reasons as was earlier thought by the physicians. |
