Low Level of Testosterone Fatal For Coronary Disease
While there is much known about menopause in females, a similar phenomenon known as andropause is hardly known to the people in general, although proper research and study has now started in the said field as well, with some interesting reports coming to the forefront.
Initially the first time ever when 'andropause' came to be known to the people was way back in the year 1940. Low level of testosterone causes andropause or for a lay man it can be called as male menopause. Let us first try to see that what exactly is testosterone. Testosterone is a hormone produced in the male testes and affecting many different parts of the body. Low testosterone levels can lead to any one or all of the following:
- Low sex drive
- Low muscle mass
- Low energy
- Increase in the upper and central body fat
- Changes in mood and attitude
The above points were a few of the things that can happen to a man suffering with low level of testosterone. Testosterone is required for quite a many functions of the body, the main being providing an adequate sexual life by giving proper erection to the male organ. But apart from this there are some other important functions as well such as it has effects on blood cell production, lipid metabolism, carbohydrate metabolism, prostatic growth and liver function.
