Thin Line between Pfizer's Viagra & Herbal Viagra
The recent years have seen people identifying themselves with a reverse trend of going back to the basics, in every sphere of life. Viagra, a real-time hero in the war against erectile dysfunction is portrayed as a villain by many biased sources. Since 1998, Viagra has been waging an almost solo and never-ending battle, putting up a brave front against a mighty force that has disabled almost 30 million Americans from ever achieving an erection. But in the wake of issues relating to the side effects associated with Viagra, and on rare occasions where Viagra has been misused as recreational and party drug, Viagra has been placed under the scanner, drawing lots of sharp criticisms from different angles. Taking stock of the changing market situation, Herbal Viagra is vociferously touted on the Internet as the best option for the treatment of erectile dysfunction, by a big number of herbal medicine vendors.
In the thick of advertising wars and boardroom games, the efficacy of Viagra seems to be losing its sheen, with the dissenting brigade using all the means at their disposal to malign the image of Viagra. Well, what separates Viagra from herbal Viagra? Without going deeper into the technicalities, we can describe Viagra as a prescription drug that helps a person with erectile dysfunction to achieve and sustain an erection, by infusing blood in the penile region. Herbal Viagra too acts on a similar scale, though their mechanisms haven't been elucidated in the laboratories yet.
There is only a thin line that demarcates Viagra and herbal Viagra. Sildenafil, the main component of Viagra increases blood flow only in the penile region, whereas there is no evidence to prove that herbal Viagra infuses blood only in the penile region. The FDA still hasn't placed their trust on the absolute safety and effectiveness of many herbs. They have a lingering doubt that the overall increase of blood flow with herbal Viagra may result in other medical complications, as certain organs may not be comfortable with the sudden surge in blood level.
Viagra is a trademark prescription drug approved by the FDA as an effective treatment for erectile dysfunction, after a series of clinical tests. Viagra is a boon and a blessing to a person with erectile dysfunction as long as he uses it within the given safety guidelines and parameters. Herbal Viagra is a good alternative, but it doesn't mean the end of Viagra. The concept and idea behind the 'back to nature' slogan of the herbalists would be far-fetched, if they fail to set a fair standard for herbal Viagra, in sync with the modern medical advancements.
Both Viagra and herbal Viagra work on the same principle for the same purpose; it is only the nature of their mechanism that stands apart. |
